Q: Should I change Docters ?
I am seriously thinking of Changing Docetrs based on what happenned the otherday at my Docetrs appointment. If you were me would you consider doing this.
Last week I made an appointment with My Primary care Physician basically to check my blood pressure and review the medication I am on for that and my prostate issue.I have been on flomax for almost 3 years now and my Pharmacy (and insurance) changed my Prescription to generic, which was fine if its the samthing and cheaper.Anyway I told my Docter about this and he told me that they arent suppossed to do this unless they speak to him first and also he said that there is no Generic for Flomax. Now I know that there is a generic for Flomax as I have been keeping up on that. What bothers me is that my Docter doesnt know this. How current is my docter on alot of stuff if he isnt aware of that.I have had this Docter for 20 years but after this visit I feel he isnt up on current tr
A: I wouldn’t change doctors just because he didn’t know that there was a generic formulation. How can doctors keep everything in their heads? It would have been nice if he had known–more than one doctor has earned my loyalty by recommending generics–but in my opinion, that one misunderstanding is not enough reason to change doctors.
Now, if he insists on the brand name medicine and cannot give you a *good* reason to use it, that’s another story. Brand name medicines are expensive, and if they don’t fit in your budget, your doctor will have to get over it.
Talk to your pharmacist, too.
