Q: Does the medication Flomax have a generic?
I’m in the usa if that makes difference.

A: its called Tamsulosin and you can not buy it locally in the USA but you can buy it online (see site below)

Q: What are other treatments besides medication for enlarged prostate?
I have an enlarged prostate that my doctor says is not due to cancer. Taking Flomax does help somewhat, but it hasn’t ended the problem. I don’t want to take medication the rest of my life. I’m only 34.

A: Take Sabal Serrulata mother tincture 10 drops twice a day for 15 days and let me know the results.
Sabal serrulata works best on an enlarged prostate or prostatitis.

The materia medica for Sabal serrulata states :

SABAL SERRULATA
Saw Palmetto

Sabal is homeopathic to irritability of the genito-urinary organs. General and sexual debility. Promotes nutrition and tissue building. Head, stomach, and ovarian symptoms marked. Of unquestioned value in prostatic enlargement, epididymitis, and urinary difficulties. Acts on membrano-prostatic portion of urethra. Iritis, with prostatic trouble. Valuable for undeveloped mammary glands. Fear of going to sleep. Languor, apathy and indifference.

Head.–Confused, full; dislikes sympathy; makes her angry. Vertigo, with headache. Neuralgia in feeble patients. Pain runs up from nose and centers in forehead.

Male.–Prostatic troubles; enlargement; discharge of prostatic fluid. Wasting of testes and loss of sexual power. Coitus painful at the time of emission. Sexual neurotics. Organs feel cold.

Female.–Ovaries tender and enlarged; breasts shrivel (Iod; Kali iod). Young female neurotics; suppressed or perverted sexual inclination.

Respiratory.–Copious expectoration, with catarrh of nose. Chronic bronchitis (Stann; Hep).

Relationship.–Compare: Phosph ac; Stigmata maydis; Santal; Apis. In prostatic symptoms: fer pic; Thuja; Picric acid (more sexual erethism). Populus tremul; (prostatic enlargement with cystitis).

Dose.–Mother tincture, ten to thirty drops. Third potency often better. The tincture must be prepared from the fresh berries to be effective.

Q: Why is my tongue numb..is it because of my medication?
I’ve have a kidney infection, and my doctor put me on the following medication.
1. Flomax
2. Prosed DS
3. Cipro
4. Vicodin (haven’t taken yet)

Any clue why my tongue has been numb for like 2 days now?

A: It’s extremely possible that the medications are causing you to feel numb in the tongue. It also could be a reaction from the infection. Telephone your doctor and find out if your medicines could be causing this. Your medical doctor is the best person to turn to for this.

Be sure you drink lots and lots of water. Cranberry juice is also very good for you to drink at this time.

Q: enlarged prostate on flomax?
when you have this condition enlarged prostate, how long must you take the medication flomax or other types
What IM searching for is does this ailment when your in your early sixty’s ever go away or you take the medication forever?

A: Sometimes you may have to take it indefinintely, there are other treatments as well (meds or surgery) it’s variable person to person. As long as you’re not having side effects and it’s working it’s pretty effective long term.

Q: Will Flomax side effects go away?
I went to the ER last thursday and was diagnosed with kidney stones. My doctor prescribed Flomax to help me remove a 3mm kidney stone that was stuck in my ureter. I have taken the pill three times and have noticed that I have no sex drive anymore and cannot ejaculate. And I’m only 18 years old. Does anybody know if the side effects from this medication disappear after use? I plan on having a family in the future, I hope it is still possible.
I plan to stop taking the pill today.

A: Unfortunately, those are common side effects of Flomax. However, sounds like the doc only prescribed it temporarily for your current situation and that you don’t have to take it for the rest of your life. Once you’ve passed the stone you should be able to quit taking the medicine. Correct? I’m only guessing that’s what the doctor said. I wouldn’t stop taking the medicine just yet. Call your doctor and discuss with him. Let him know you’re having unpleasant side effects and see if he suggests changing to another medicine, for you to stop taking the medicine, or maybe just stick it out until the stone passes. Flomax won’t have any long-term side effects once you stop taking it, so no need to worry about your future family plans. Good luck! And really, talk to your doctor.

Q: Does anyone know of an effective natural remedy for BPH? Flomax is too expensive and has bad side effects.?
Prescription medication for that kind of condition has become very expensive, especially for those, like myself, who don’t have medical insurance. So, I am looking for a good substitute at a reasonable price. Any good advice?

A: Maybe it’s time to think outside of the pillbox.

Flomax is expensive in the USA and tamsulosin, the generic of Flomax, is being held back from sale in the USA by the patent owners. However, Flomax and its generic are both available from international mail order pharmacies at a substantially lower cost than in the USA.

Got other questions?
Send me an email at donmc00@yahoo.com and I can probably provide some experience based insights from my first year of using a non-USA based pharmacy for tamsulosin (Flomax) and three other costly drugs that are not yet available as generics in the USA.

Q: To take or not to take Flomax?
Damn kidney stones. I avoided surgery ten days ago.
Only just. Now I’m given Tamurex (Flomax) and keep getting stabs in the renals which is movement of stone fragments I expect. Should I Ieave off the tablets and seek to not fix what isnt broken or ride these transitions out with the medication and hope no others get stuck like before which was hell on earth. I am of course doing gallons of fluids now. Whats the best way with the Flomax ?

A: Why do you like pain?
you should have had surgery.
I had it in jan,2 ops,4hr/6hr,
two 1inch cuts in my back,a tube hanging out of one cut for 19days
two tubes up my c**k!? job done.
but worth it I had a 12mm stone in there for 8yrs of PAIN.
Drink some fresh lemon juice!
my good vibes are there maan just take the flomax and drink, goodluck.

Q: Problems and can Flomax Relief help?
If a early twenties male contiunally feels as though he needs the toilet, even though he may have recently gone, what are the likely problems he has (is it incontence), and would something like Flomax relief benefit him, although the casing suggests the medication is only for 45-70 year olds?

Thanks

A: In older fellas it is often due to prostate issues but you seem very young to be having an issue like this.

It could be a whole host of things, including a sexually transmitted infection, psychological or a urinary infection (which is not necessary sexually transmitted – it can just happen).

Don’t bother buying Flomax – you need a trip to your GP / family doctor. Don’t worry, they have heard it all before, and if you do need medication it will only cost the price of a prescription.

Don’t live in misery – get that appointment booked tomorrow!

Q: Wetting the bed on Flomax?
I’m a 21 yr old female and I was prescribed Flomax to relax the muscle of the bladder so that I could control the flow more and fully void when urinating, but after being on it for about 2 months, I’ve wet the bed twice. The first time I was on a lot of cold medication, so I chalked it up to that, but this time I wasn’t taking anything but the Flomax. Is bedwetting a normal symptom and can anything be done about it?
Yeah, I’m in college, adult diapers are not an option. I’m thinking the meds aren’t worth it.

A: Logic would say that if it relaxes your bladder muscles naturally you’d have accidents like that, but it wouldn’t hurt to give your doctor a ring and get his opinion. It could be something else, but I’m going to vote Flomax is just causing your bedwetting. You could try wearing adult diapers to bed, or getting a bed-wetting pad from the store to put under you to help with the mess.

Q: FLOMAX and OXYCODONE?
hi, i just got diagnosed with 2 kidney stones very recently and i went to the emergency room, they then prescribed FLOMAX and OXYCODONE..what do these medications have to do with kidney stones?

thanks alot for your answers

A: flomax is for enlarged prostate it works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate that surround the urethra. i guess the hope is that the stone passing will be less painful. oxycodone is an opiate for moderate to severe pain. i have heard passing a stone is like giving birth, in other words intense pain.

Q: Medication my DR. gave me making me constipated?
Hi,

Last week I went to a Urologist for a UTI.

I’m a 26 year old male. I had discomfort urinating, so I went to see the MD.

He per-scribed me 3 medications to take for one month.

-Ciprofloxacin 500MG 2X a day
-Flomax .4mg 1X daily
-Ibuprofen 800mg 2X daily

I am one week into the regiment, and I have become constipated. I can still successfully perform a bowel movement… but my stool is harder than usual… And the last couple of times I saw some blood on the tissue paper while wiping…!

I’ve never seen that beofore.

Is this normal with this mediaction? What should I do?

He told me to take the whole months worth and not to stop taking it.

The UTI does feel better, but now this??
EDIT;

Ok, I’ll try calling him, I was just wondering if this was normal with this medication.

Also, the first thing I did was get an STD test (both my GF and I did.) and we both came back clean. The DR said it was not an STD.

A: I guess it’s possible with the flomax affecting the distribution of fluids. It sure doesn’t sound like something you should stop taking your medicine over. If it’s a side effect of the medication, it will go away when your finished with the regimen.

Medicines often have side effects. That doesn’t mean they should be avoided when they can cure your illness.

If the blood was bright red it’s probably just a little fissure secondary to the harder stool.

Q: What would you have done?-What do you think I should do?
A real good looking young lady stopped me out side K mart and said she needed help paying for her flomax medication I gave here $40.00 and she said she would like to meet me tonight at the bar.
If you don’t like the question move on
You think I have been scammed
I just remembered this is a dry county
You mean she might have a enlarged prostate. poor girl

A: Your young lady has prostate problems? Good luck!

Q: Is it time to Find New Docter?
Ive been seeing the same Docter Off/On for many years now,and since he is on my Health Plan I have been seeing him more regular.Anyway Ive had this Health coverage for almost 4 years now and have been seeing Doc for High Blood pressure and a Prostate issue(BPH)all of which I am on medication for 3 meds for Blood pressure and 1 for prostate(Flomax). The medications make me feel worse ,except for Flomax. What I am wondering is at what point do I need to request a Full Physical and auctual treatment for the Prosate issue.I am 46 and dont want to live rest of life putting a bandaid on this problem(my dad sufferered same issue until he had surgery in his 70s)do I want to wait that long. What should I ask my Docter and based on his responses should I seek a new Docter if he just want to prescribe more meds.

A: The bandaid is often used before more invasive measures such as sugery as the risk is considered MUCH less (anaesthetic, bleeding risk, risk of permanent impotence etc).
Why are the BP medications making you feel bad (is your BP still high or going too low?)-either way meds may need to be reviewed. Are you getting headaches or feeling dizzy??
things you may be able to do about your BP-loose weight, exercise more, improve your diet (lower fats more fruit/veg etc) stop smoking, cut down on alcohol. Sometimes you can do all these things and still have BP problems though. Flomax can cause dizziness so combined with your BP medications may be making you feel bad
I would go along with a list of your symtpoms and see if you can get some of your meds altered so you have less side effects-you dont say what they are so its hard to give good advice.
cheers caz
